Gateway Volunteer Info
As a not for profit club, volunteers are the backbone of our organization!
The Gateway Skating Club is fortunate to not require fundraising, although optional fundraising opportunities are available to earn credits to offset registration and equipment costs. However each family requires volunteer shifts per-child, once they begin Private Lessons. Learn to Skate, Powerskating and Junior STAR programs do not have mandatory volunteer hours. Deposit cheques for each skater are handed in alongside your registration form(s).
Volunteering is a great way to meet other families in the Club and to ensure we can continue to deliver the highest quality programs possible as cost effectively as possible.
At the beginning of the year the Club determines the approximate number of shifts required. Private Skater families are provided with information as to available volunteer shift. Shifts are filled on a first come basis by contacting the Volunteer Chairperson who tracks the shifts and confirms the request. If the shift is no longer available the Volunteer Chairperson lets the family know.
When a shift has been completed the volunteer deposit cheque is destroyed.
